She was driving her Honda SUV down the 3600 block of Colonial Avenue on Friday night. Around 7:35 p.m., her vehicle struck a young man on a motorcycle.
The victim was 28-year-old Bishop Keanu Jackson. The crash happened right near the intersection of Colonial Avenue and Poplar Drive in Cave Spring.
When police officers arrived at the scene, things took a turn for the worse for Callahan. Investigators say she flat-out refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.
Because of that refusal, officers initially locked her up on charges of driving under the influence. But the legal trouble got much worse once the hospital delivered the tragic news.
Young Bishop Jackson died from his injuries at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital despite lifesaving efforts. This prompted prosecutors to upgrade the charges against Callahan.
Court records show she is now facing DUI involuntary manslaughter alongside a first-offense DWI. The local police department is keeping the case under ac
tive review.
