Concordia Parish became the site of a devastating scene this past Sunday morning that no one saw coming. Gregory Steele, an 18-year-old from Vidalia, was driving his 2001 Infiniti QX4 up Minorca Road just after midnight. For reasons the police are still piecing together, the SUV left the blacktop and started tumbling. What started as a late-night drive ended in a heap of twisted metal and a lot of heartbreak. Gregory survived the wreck with only minor injuries, but the consequences of that moment are going to last a lifetime. State Troopers suspect that impairment played a big role in why the car left the road in the first place. After the dust settled, they arrested the young driver and took him straight to the Concordia Parish Detention Center. He is now looking at charges like vehicular homicide and careless operation.
