Bryan Anthony Banda Obituary, Death: Teen Motorcyclist Killed In Late-Night Highway Crash In Brazos County
The quiet stretch of East State Highway 21 in Bryan turned into a heartbreaking scene Thursday night after an 18-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a violent collision involving an SUV. Authorities later identified the victim as Anthony Banda of Bryan, Texas.
According to the Bryan Police Department, the crash happened around 9:50 p.m. near Wallis Road and Crosswind Drive, an area known for heavy evening traffic and multiple turning lanes. Officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a major wreck involving a motorcycle and an SUV along the busy highway corridor.
Investigators said the SUV was traveling westbound on East State Highway 21 and had moved into the center turn lane while preparing to make a left turn onto Wallis Road. Around the same time, Banda was riding eastbound on his motorcycle and also entered the shared center lane while attempting to turn left onto Crosswind Drive.
Police said the motorcycle slammed into the front portion of the SUV in the middle turn lane area. The impact was severe, leaving emergency crews scrambling to assist everyone involved.
Sadly, Anthony Banda suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The loss of the young Bryan resident has left many shaken, especially considering his age and the sudden nature of the crash.
The driver of the SUV survived the collision and was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities have not publicly released the driver’s identity.
Investigators said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the deadly crash. Officers spent hours at the scene documenting evidence, examining vehicle positions, roadway markings, and visibility conditions as part of the ongoing investigation.
The intersection near East State Highway 21, Wallis Road, and Crosswind Drive remained partially closed for some time Thursday night while crews processed the scene. Traffic was later reopened after investigators completed their initial work.
Motorcycle crashes involving turning vehicles often become highly detailed investigations because authorities must carefully analyze lane movement, speed, impact angles, and driver visibility. Police confirmed the investigation into Anthony Banda’s death remains active.
For many in Bryan, the tragedy has become another painful reminder of how quickly lives can change on busy Texas highways. What started as a normal Thursday evening ended in devastating loss for a young man whose life was only beginning.
